Goals for 2018

I know typical January post, New Year’s Resolutions. But as 2017 has drawn to an end I’ve started to realise that I accomplished very little that I had set out to do. Therefore I have decided that 2018 is going to be my year and in order to motivate me I have set out five goals (not resolutions) for myself to try and feel better about my year by December 2018.

I’ve started to realise that I do a lot of staring at the TV or watching Youtube videos and that I could be learning a lot more by reading books, newspapers, blogs etc or even just watching the news. I go to night classes at college twice a week but apart from that I’ve realised that I’m not learning anything new and I’m starting to lack knowledge of current events and what is going on in the world. This definitely needs to change.

  1. Look after myself more

This covers a lot of aspects from the traditional I’m losing weight this year to the simple taking a little bit of time for myself. I came to the conclusion last year that I give a lot of my time to everyone but myself and that I need to start saying no more often, at work as well as in my personal life. I still want to help people out but sometimes I think that can be taken advantage of…just a little.

I also want to start eater healthier and working out more. As well as weight goals this is also just to improve my health. I have not been feeling good for the entire month of December, and think this could be down to the amount of junk food I have been consuming and the excess alcohol intake that the festivities bring. So hopefully getting healthy will put my body back on the right track.

  1. Be more Earth Friendly

2017 was a big year for an increase in awareness of environmental and animal welfare issues. Keeping this in mind I aim to recycle more, use less plastic, stop getting takeaway coffee cups and only purchase cruelty free beauty products from now on. I am also going to try incorporating more vegetarian meals into the week and cut down on animal products.

  1. Focus on my career

At the moment I work as an Assistant Manager in retail, this was meant to be a stop gap after university till I figured out what I wanted to do….it has now been 3 and a half years….and it’s definitely time I moved on. I have been going to night classes at college now for a year and a half studying Marketing and I only have 20 weeks left before it’s all done. I’m excited to be more motivated in 2018 and start building a career in marketing. Focusing on this blog, college and helping a friend’s business out with their marketing should all help towards the future.
